Odell Beckham Jr has defended himself for calling passengers “fat” and “ugly” in a rude tirade as he was kicked off an American Airline flight.

The former NFL star was involved in the horrific incident in Miami in November, but police body camera footage has only just been released.

Beckham insulted passengers in the first class section of the flight as they begged him to get off the flight. When he refused to leave, the entire flight was forced to descend.

Miami-Dade police were called to the flight when cabin crew said the athlete was unresponsive when repeatedly asked to fasten his seatbelt before takeoff.

Officers were told he was ‘belligerent and non-compliant’ during the incident.

“I screwed up my life, I’m sorry. All you had to do was wake me up,” he can be heard saying to the other passengers.

Beckham, 30, was eventually escorted off the plane by police and the plane was able to depart hours late.

He expressed his frustration on Twitter on Thursday that the footage was released by authorities.

“My least favorite thing about this world, other than people not knowing what they’re talking about, is that we can cut any video, but we want it to look exactly the way we want it. GOOD or BAD. Funny world we live in. No,” he tweeted.

Beckham, who is currently without a team due to injury, wrote on the platform that he ‘WAS NOT here to break the rules’.

He added: “This Fknn seat belt does not save anything…. Just fly the plane and land it.

Beckham wrote that he quickly fell asleep on the plane after “intentionally staying awake the entire flight. Errbody had an opinion on situations in which he was not involved. All you can do is find out who you really are. Purell only kills 99.9% of germs…there will always be some.

Beckham had a few more words for the passenger he called “ugly”.

“I can’t lie, I was so angry…my brother really told me everything but the N-word…he must have understood…if he and the other white gentleman weren’t looking at me in such a way. I would have retired from the plane. That’s the real reason everyone had to go down,” he said.
