With the release of the Spellbound Collection event, Apex Legends players are discovering a new bug that makes the Sentinel much more effective.
Apex Legends players discovered a new bug related to the Sentinel, allowing them to reload the weapon for free. Although Sentinel has encountered bugs in the past Apex Legendsthe latter makes the weapon much more effective in battle royale skirmishes.
With players in the middle of season 15 of Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment has released the Spellbound Collection event. While this new update adds a bunch of new cosmetics, the Control LTM, and private matches for all players, it also comes with several balance changes. Among the changes, the developer reduced the number of shield cells needed to charge the Sentinel from two to one. Even though this change was meant to improve the Sentinel, there was another unintended change to the gun that could have made it overpowered.
Following the release of the new Spellbound Collection event in Apex Legends, players discovered that the Sentinel could be charged for free, meaning no shield cells were needed to boost the sniper. This is a significant change as charging the sniper allows it to fire Amped shells which deal significantly more damage. However, it should be noted that in order to use the free Sentinel loadout, players must be equipped with a Gold Body Shield.
This bug was even illustrated in a Reddit post shared by flapjack626. In the video, the player grabbed a gold body shield and nothing else from the floor loot in the firing range. They then picked up a sentry from the nearby weapon rack and loaded the weapon with no shield cells into their inventory. Once the gun was powered up, they fired several times at one of the test dummies, revealing that the Amped mechanic was working as intended.
Unsurprisingly, this latest Sentinel glitch caught the attention of many members of the Apex Legends community. flapjack626’s post already has over 1000 upvotes, and many are talking about the implications of this bug. For example, some players thought this bug could mean that Respawn Entertainment could temporarily remove the weapon from the game. Additionally, some wondered if the bug existed outside of the Firing Range. Following these queries, other users responded claiming that they tested it in battle royale with the same results.
It will be interesting to see how the developer reacts to this latest Sentinel issue. Since the patch notes don’t mention anything about the free weapon loadout, it seems like it was an unintentional bug that happened with the update. And while some players want gun buffs, that might be going too far. However, it remains to be seen when a fix will be made since Respawn Entertainment has been facing other issues such as unstable servers after the release of the Spellbound Collection event in Apex Legends.
Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
