  • Kody Brown said he remains “separated” from two of his sons with Janelle Brown.
  • During COVID, sons Gabriel and Garrison continued to see their girlfriends, which angered Kody.
  • Kody apologized to them and said he would “handle things differently” if he could.

Kody Brown has given TLC’s “Sister Wives: One on One” host Sukanya Krishnan an update on his relationships with two of his sons — and it’s not positive.

Throughout seasons 16 and 17, “Sister Wives” viewers watched Kody’s strict COVID-19 rules strain his relationship with his two youngest sons with second wife Janelle Brown – Gabriel Brown, now 21, and Garrison Brown, 24.

“Now with these two boys, I’m separated from them. I can’t even have a conversation with them anymore,” Kody said.

Gabriel and Garrison lived with Janelle for a period during the pandemic. After the end of the confinement, they continued to leave their homes to go to work or to school and to spend time with their girlfriends. Because of their choices, Janelle was the first house Kody stopped visiting during the pandemic, per her request.

Janelle said the situation has put a strain on her marriage.

Kody developed a set of strict health standards for the family during the pandemic, which included sanitizing their mail before bringing it inside and changing clothes immediately after returning home if they went out.

“If one of my grandchildren were to die because someone was to wet their pencil, it would drive me so crazy,” Kody told Krishnan.

He said if one of his children were to die because another brought COVID home, he would have a hard time “forgiving” the child who was responsible for bringing the virus into the house.

When Kody finally contracted COVID from his daughter Aurora Brown, he contacted Gabriel to discuss the symptoms and forgot it was Gabriel’s birthday.

“I shouldn’t have done that, but I did it anyway. I didn’t remind him it was my birthday because I wanted to see if he remembered, and he didn’t. didn’t,” Gabriel recalled in a Season 17 episode of “Sisters Wives.”

Gabriel said his father called back a few hours later to try to make up for his mistake. “That was the last time I spoke to my father,” he added, through tears.

At various points in Season 17, Kody told Janelle that he either wanted to apologize or discuss the issue with the boys before vacationing with them. Janelle said she refused to “comply” with Kody’s request, putting even more pressure on their relationship.

Janelle and Kody have revealed they were “separated” while filming the three-part series “Sister Wives: One On One.” They had been “spiritually” married for nearly 30 years.

In the final part of the final special, Kody looked into the camera and apologized directly to his sons.

“Boys, I’m sorry. I was trying to protect my family. Next time I’ll handle things differently, and I’m sorry,” he said.
